KYKATE gained her first victory over fences at Wetherby on friday. She won the 0-120 Mares 2m 4f Handicap Chase under Harry Challoner for David Bithell Racing. She ran from the front and jumped superbly putting her opposition under pressure and as a result won by a comfortable 2 lengths.

It was a well deserved first victory over fences having finished 2nd on 3 of her previous 6 outings over the larger obstacles.

The Racing Post said “KYKATE came into this 0-6 over fences, but she´d run a couple of solid races recently from this mark, and she always looked to just be doing enough over the final couple of fences. She shouldn´t go up too much and can continue to give a good account.”

She has always been a fantastic jumper and I feel she has more to offer in this sphere. I hope we will be able to get another win from her before she is turned away for her summer break.
