HARRIS won the 3 mile 1 furlong 0-110 Handicap Hurdle at CATTERICK yesterday for owners Mrs Heaton, Mr & Mrs Vyner-Brookes and Mr Tommy Sharrat. It was there first winner for the yard and Tommy’s first ever winner and the horse ran in his red and white colours. It was a very close finish, so close in fact that the judge could not split them and called a dead heat with only a short head back to the horse in 3rd.
It was more than Harris deserved as he was jumped into at the 3rd flight on his previous outing at Carlisle and had to be pulled up and on his penultimate start before that when he finished 3rd at Ludlow he had to have 5 months off with a bad cut sustained during the race. Thankfully he appears to have come out of the race ok and I would like to think the result should help his confidence bring out a bit of improvement in him. He has already won a point-to-point so may well go novice chasing next.
