Gwladys Street and Mac Steamy Declared at Sedgefield

Gwladys Street runs in the 2m5f maiden hurdle tomorrow night at Sedgefield following the abandonment of Wetherby on Sunday. There are only 4 runners so it looks like a good opportunity to run him.

Mac Steamy will be on the box too, making his first start under rules in the bumper. He is in good form on the back of his two point-to-point wins and it looks like a good opportunity for him. He is a big staying chaser for the future and anything he achieves in bumpers or over hurdles should be a bonus. He is a nice horse and we are hoping for a good run.

Alpha Victor Narrowly Denied Victory on Handicap Bow

Alpha Victor ran a gallant race at Perth yesterday on his return to the racecourse since last seen back in January where he was the yards first ever runner and first ever winner. It was also his first time in a handicap and a first time over the trip of 3 miles in what was attritional conditions. Jumping the final flight he looked like he was going to catch the leader only for the staying on Papamoa who seemed to come from the clouds to get up to win. He was beaten a neck and 3/4 length to finish 3rd. All things considering it was a fantastic run especially as he was top weight and the 2 horses that finished in front of him were the bottom two weights, he was giving them both over a stone.

Earlier Blewit ran in the first race, the 2 mile novice hurdle. He took quite a keen hold early on, on this only his second start over hurdles. He struggled to cope with the testing ground against pretty decent opposition. We will try and find better ground for his next run and see how gets on and hopefully then put a line through yesterdays performance.

Gwladys Street Declared for Wetherby

Gwladys Street has been declared for the 2 mile 6f maiden hurdle at Wetherby on Sunday. He appears to have come out of his race at Bangor last saturday well where he finished an encouraging 7th. This will be his third run over hurdles so he should qualify for a handicap mark providing he jumps round. There are 10 runners, 3 horses are rated 117, 110 and 122 but the rest are unrated and of a similar profile so we will be hoping for another improved run depending racing is on and it doesn’t come too soon after last Saturdays run.

Goal Hanger Declared at Haydock

Goal Hanger has been declared to run at Haydock tomorrow night in the 7.25 Fillies maiden over 1 mile. There are a few uncertainties such as ground and trip and she will need to settle but there are only 7 runners and it doesn’t  look the greatest contest in the world so we will take our chance.

Goal Hanger Withdrawn due to Broken Bridle at the Start

Goal Hanger was due to be our first flat runner yesterday at Wolverhampton before she was withdrawn down at the start when the bridle broke. Franny Norton had got off her to keep her calm as she was getting a little excited down at the start and when he went to get the leg up again she pulled back from one of the handlers and some how the bridle broke so obviously could not take part. Very frustrating for all parties but she will be entered up again soon and we will be hoping for a little bit better luck!

Gwladys Street Declared

Gwladys Street has been declared to run in the 3 mile Novice Hurdle at 1.50 at Bangor tomorrow for the Peel Bloodstock Syndicate. It will be his second run over hurdles and steps up in trip from 2 miles 4f to 3 miles. It looks a strong race with 14 declared to run and plenty of strength in depth. Charlie Huxley rides.

Goal Hanger to be Yard’s First Flat Runner

Goal Hanger has been declared to run at Wolverhampton in the 6.45 6f AW 51-65 Handicap (Class 6) and in doing so becomes the first flat runner to be sent out from Peel Hall. Franny Norton takes the ride on the former Michael Owen owned and Tom Dascombe trained 3 yr old Exceed and Excel filly. She will be running in the colours of the Liverpool Ramblers syndicate and will be their first ever runner. The syndicate was put together by Sports Physiologist and lead singer of the Wickermen George Wilson. George has been assisting with the use the Polar heart rate monitors on the horses in their training regime. The heart rate monitors are used to help give us a more scientific approach to the health and fitness of the horses as well as the more traditional and everyday  practices adopted by the yard.

Mac Steamy Looks Like a Serious Chasing Prospect!

Mac Steamy won the restricted race at Tabley yesterday to make it 2 wins from 2 runs for the Point-to-Point yard run by Julia Kinsey. What looked to be a very competitive race Mac Steamy jumped to the front at the third last and never looked back to win in good style. He looks like a serious chasing prospect and should have a career ahead of him under rules.

Mac Steamy will now look to be campaigned under rules and is for sale hopefully to stay in the yard. He has got a fantastic pedigree being from the family of National winner Numbersixvalverde, Kerry National winner Ponmeoath and top Chaser I’msingingtheblues.
